We meet on the 1st Friday morning of the month at the Church rooms at St Gregory’s church in Park Avenue North, although in the summer months we try to arrange visits to see local historic sites.
This is a small group limited to 20 members, but due to natural fallout, we have a few vacancies.

I have been providing a background of the actual historical past of the town which played such a major part in early medieval and royal history of England. This is interspersed with studies of local sites, people, events, stories, memories, pictures – the list seems endless! The plan was to move out from just town but there is such a lot to learn that is still to come.

Methods of study vary, but members have made great contributions and discussions of past memories  is very valuable to me as I have only been in Northampton since 1973!

We have visited 2 sites . The 1st to Billing Road cemetery and we discovered some famous graves, as well as some mysteries. We also toured the Gilbert Scott Gothis Chapel at St Andrew’s Hospital with the guidance of the Anglican chaplain. As this is on a private site, visits have to be escorted so it is not so well known as some churches.

If anyone is interested in joining us please give me a call on the above number or email
