PROSPECTIVE GROUPS

Italian for Beginners

(The current Italian group is full and also the members have moved on from absolute beginners and will now be called ITALIAN IMPROVERS)

SPANISH INTERMEDIATE

You will need some Spanish to join this group but you are welcome to come alongto see if it suits you.

FRENCH for BEGINNERS

CARDMAKING & HOMECRAFTS

We meet monthly at the Leader’s home on the 3rd Tuesday from 2.00pm-4.00pm

We enjoy making all kinds of cards as well as home décor such as book folding, decorated candles and embellishing slate hearts, etc.

We continue to explore new projects. We have room for more members.

CROCHET

As from Wednesday 8th July this group will move from the Elgar Centre to Sue’s home in Parklands.

Meetings will be on the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 2.00-4.00pm

New members are welcome and if you are new to the art of Crochet we will help you get started.

GENEOLOGY 4 (Family History)

Family History group started around 2009 and between some original members and myself we have a wealth of experience. We guide and
share each other’s research experience and the stories that bring your search to life.

If you have started or “just stuck”we are here to help members wishing to join our group, all would be welcome. If you are new, you may need
1-1 help. To get you started we have links with The Family Search Centre where they have access to most sites and friendly staff for 1-1
help,and will not convert you to the church.

The centre is at the back of The Latter-Day Saints Church near the car park. (I will supply more details for the Research Centre on request).
We have access to Wi-Fi and members are wiling to aide your research by using their varying subscribed sites: Ancestry, Find My Past, and
British Newspaper Archives. As well as free sites: Free BMD and Family Search (LDS).

Book Group 3

The Group meet at a member’s home between 2 - 4 pm on the 1st Saturday of each month.

The group take it in turn to choose a book to read and then the group discuss it at the next meeting and there is room for more members!

u3a DIXIELANDERS JAZZ BAND

Do you like jazz and can play a musical instrument? Then you may be just the person we are looking for. Why not give me a ring for a chat and come along to one of our fortnightly rehearsals on Tuesdays at 2pm at Great Billing Methodist Chapel.

BOOK READING 3 – Saturday Book Club Leader Vicky Elphee

We meet on the 1st Saturday of the month from 2.00pm – 4.00pm. Meeting are held in a member’s home in East Hunsbury.
We take it in turn to choose a book to read over the coming month which is then discussed at the next meeting. This leads us to read books outside our normal range. Each of us may have very varying views on the book which leads to lively discussions.

New members are always welcome.

BOOK READING 2 Leader – Sue Harrison

We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 2.00pm in a member’s home.

We all take books along books we have enjoyed in the past month and say something about them. The books are then available for other group members to borrow, generating discussion over subsequent months as more people read the books.

We are a friendly, informal group and look forward to welcoming new members.

CRIBBAGE Leader – Christine Bentley Deputy - Marian Flood

We meet weekly on Wednesday afternoons at 2.00pm – 4.00pm at the Cock Hotel Kingsthorpe.

There is no charge but you are expected to buy a drink from the bar of course. Some members regularly have lunch beforehand.

We all enjoy a game of Cribbage in a friendly but competitive way. We are randomly allocated to sets of 3 or 4 to play so we play with different members each week.

We have room for more members.

We meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 1.00pm at a venue chosen by the group at the previous meeting.

Do you like to have lunch with friends in a nice restaurant and have lots of chat and laughter? If so this may be the group for you. We like to try different places and cuisines suggested by our members and agreed between us.
