We started off as a group studying the Arts and Crafts Movement, but have recently widened our interests, hence the new name Decorative Arts from 1800. Currently we are having a ‘lucky dip’ of a wide rage of topics all encompassed by our dates. Recent subjects presented by members of the group have been: London Underground Tiles, Eileen Terry, Glass artists, John Ruskin, John Sloane, William de Morgan.

To come this year we have: Lutyens, Otto Wagner, Charles Rennie Mackintosh to name but a few.

It is a light hearted, friendly study group, following the interests of group members.
Each month two people research their lucky dip topic, presenting in whichever way they feel comfortable and then share their discoveries with the group for joint discussion.

In May 2025 a visit has been arranged to UON to view their collection of posters and we’re looking into an Autumn trip to the Guildhall Art Gallery in London to see the Evelyn de Morgan exhibition.

In January of each year we have a belated Christmas meal together.

Please do feel free to come and join us, you will be most welcome. Currently four spaces available.
